9th Bonsai!

Bonsai # 9

This is what the plant(shrub) looked like the day I bought it from my local nursey. The reason I selected this one because first, it got that nice trunk shape and size and second reason is that, I cut the top part of it and the remaining is in Peat moss growing...

So, what I have is that, I have cut the top and wired a thin branch to be the top. and straighten the parallel branches and bent 'em.

It is not looking good right now, because I have removed lot of Leave mass in order to have the clear idea of the shape/style.

And I believe once, it starts to grow, there will be nice a foliage on it. But still I haven't have the clear idea that whether I will do padding of leaves or not. . But will decide that, after 5-6 months, when there are enough leaves n branches to work with...

And this right here, is the top the plant. Which I have placed in the mixture of peat moss and soil and covered the soil mixture with peat moss... Leaves looked a bit down, because there is  no root system to get water and nutrients into the plant. And once that develops, I think in a week or two, this cutting will start to grow and I will pot and train it in this year or the next...

Azadirachta indica

Azadirachta indica

This was another tree that I got with my Ficus plants. Its name is Neem(local name). This is how I had got it from the nursery, but I only have just straighten the branch with the help of wire. I also intended to straighten the other branch, but is young and there is no point for securing the wire, so just left it to grow and will straighten later, when the branch will withhold the wiring. But it got that beautiful wood above it...

So, I guess will have to wait.. !!!!

Water Melon Seedling!!

Watermelon Seedling!!

Making bonsai is a very hard work to do, because you have to be very careful for not cutting more than required root mass, not breaking the trunk or branch during wiring. I mean you have to be very careful in every step of making bonsai.
There is also one another thing that I like to do very much... That is germinating seeds... This is the thing that I love doing it for many years. And the seeds I love to germinate are WaterMelon seeds.. Yeah!
Watermelon seeds are big and they are easy to grow. And the most loving thing about these seeds are that, that they germinate very fast.

So, this seedling is 2days old and another can be seen in the background.

What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose.

Jade Bonsai!

Jade #2

This is another cutting that I got from my mother-jade plant. As you can see, I have planted it as it was when it was cut, because I want to have it in formal Upright
stature, and branches of its side. I haven't used any wire on it, because it trunk is very fragile to put wire on it. As I am no expert in wiring, I believe I will break it, so not doing it now.

But this one, I believe will grow quickly to start training it...

Update on Bonsai

Update on Bonsai #1

This is basically the update on my first Bonsai tree. So, after approximately 8days, my this bonsai is atlast settling in its new pot, as the bonsai is growing, new leaves are forming. And I am really excited to see it growing. Can't describe the feeling.
So, this is how it is looking now...

Ficus Bonsai

 Ficus!!

New bonsai !!
My local Plant Nursery gardner was insisting me for using Ficus plant for making bonsai. As I always roam in his nursery, finding the plant for making into bonsai, every time I visit him. So, approximately every time he asks me to buy a Ficus plant, so this time when I went I bought 2 Ficus plants.

One plant I just put it as it was, little top pruning, and little root pruning. No Wiring and no bending, just wanted to make one in Formal Upright position.

But for the other one, I have used both wiring and pruning techniques, to shape it into a S-shape, which is also the First Alphabet of my name. :P

So, this is how I have made them...!!
